As we drive into Month 2 of the World Race (Argentina), I wanted to share some of our favorite and most essential items we packed.

5. Nalgene Water Bottle

Lightweight, simple water bottle. I also have my Hydroflask with me but it definitely weighs more. I have found myself using my Hydroflask at our home location and taking my Nalgene with me on outings. Every ounce of weight counts!

4. Carabiners

Security. You can use them to lock down anything. I have a carabiners on each set of zippers on my daypack. It’s an extra layer of protection from someone trying to unzip your bag to look inside for valuables.

3. Collapsible Cup

I love my cup. There is just something about having a consistent cup to drink out of. You know whats been in it and that it’s been cleaned. Sea to Summit sells an awesome X-Mug that collapses down and slides into any spot in your daypack. Check out the Sea to Summit X-Mug here.

2. Shampoo Bars

Shampoo, conditioner, lotion… liquids are hard to pack and they weigh a lot! Shampoo bars are easy to pack and last a long time. They are light and you don’t have to worry about taking them through security or having them bust open in your pack! I bought the 3-pack of these J.R. Liggett’s Old Fashioned Shampoo Bars.

1. Scented Dryer Sheets

Go to the grocery store, walk down the laundry aisle, and take time to choose your favorite scent. Dryer sheets can be stuffed anywhere! Your pack, daypack, shoes, sleeping bags, etc. AND they can be used as an airfreshener by hanging them in any room you sleep. Bye bye bad smells!

!BONUS!

6. Baby Wipes

Keep at least 1 pack in your day pack. Take them everywhere you go! You never when you will need to clean your feet, take a “shower”, or be in a place without TP. Baby wipes are cheap and easier to fit in your pack than a toilet paper roll. These biodegradable wipes are a great option: DUDE Wipes.

One response to “5 Must-Haves for World Travelers (They’re cheaper than you think!)”

  1. Haha Yes! Baby wipes, *ahem*, I mean, dude wipes are a GREAT addition to your travel pack. I packed a ton of these and used them quite often. There may be places and times where you don’t get the opportunity to shower and these will make up for that! I have a story to tell you if you ask later. It involves my teammate, a bathroom, and no toilet paper or wipes. Needless to say, he improvised. But with these wipes, you won’t be put in that situation.
